 Overview
Birmingham, this year's Ryder Cup City, is at the heart of the United Kingdom and is well served by all major forms of transport, making travel to and from the city easy.

For the 34th Ryder Cup Matches, there will be no general public parking at The De Vere Belfry, rather, all parking will be at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre, better known as the NEC, from where there will be a 'park and ride' scheme in operation to transport people to The De Vere Belfry.

 Facts and Figures:

  • The Ryder Cup is a biennial event in which Europe and the USA alternate as host.
  • Over the 6 days of the event there will be up to 40,000 visitors per day.
  • The visitors will include the general public, PGA members, corporate sponsors and guests, media and press representatives, marshals and volunteers, emergency service personnel and employed staff.
  • This is the 4th occasion that the Ryder Cup has been held at The De Vere Belfry.
  • The park and ride scheme from the NEC will be for up to 30,000 attendees.
  • A park and ride scheme for 6000 guests and staff will also run from Drayton Manor Park, 3 miles north of The De Vere Belfry.
  • A coach service provision for up to 11,000 guests and media personnel will run directly from certain nominated hotels.
  • A specially constructed bus set down and pick-up area adjacent to the A4091 will offer pedestrian access directly onto the course. There will be no direct pedestrian access through any of the other entrances into The De Vere Belfry site.
  • A very limited car parking facility will be available adjacent to the bus drop-off area for essential event staff and resident hotel guests only.
  • A programme of road closures on sections of the A446 Litchfield Road and the A4091 Tamworth Road north of the M42, junction 9 will be in force, complimented by a series of minor road closures and through traffic routes.
  • All traffic movements within the closed road area will be restricted to event buses and essential vehicles linked to the event residents. There will be no access off junction 9, M42 for any vehicle other than accredited coaches.
  • The local bus service will only cover Wishaw and Middleton, the two villages within the road closure program.
  • A tow away zone will operate within the road closure area.
  • CCTV systems will cover the event.
