Match 17 Hole-by-Hole Montgomerie bt Hoch 5&4
Hole 14 - The remarkable Montgomerie wins his match 5 & 4 when he holes from nine feet for a winning birdie. It means the Scot is still undefeated in Ryder Cup singles. He has now won four and halved two of his head to head jousts.

Match 18 Hole-by-Hole Toms bt Garcia by 1 hole
Hole 17 - The match ends disappointingly for Europe as Garcia drives into the water after Toms finds the fairway. Garcia eventually find the front of the green in four and with Toms safely on the putting surface in two, the Spaniard concedes the match. USA win by one hole.

Match 19 Hole-by-Hole Clarke v Duval match halved
Hole 18 - Clarke and Duval share the honours with par fours. Both men miss the green but get up and down under the most intense pressure. The match score is now 11.5 - 9.5 in favour of the European team.

Hole 15 - Langer makes no mistake at the par five after Sutton is conceded his par five, the German holes from six feet for his par to win 4 and 3.

Match 21 Hole-by-Hole Harrington bt Calcavecchia 5&4
Hole 14 - Harrington becomes the second European to win his match when he holes for a birdie two from 12 feet. That gives him a 5 & 4 victory and means he has now won both his Ryder Cup singles encounters. Europe now lead 10-8 overall.

Match 22 Hole-by-Hole Bjorn bt Cink 2&1
Hole 17 - Both drive into the rough and Cink hits the fairway with his second. Bjorn makes a misjudgement and finds a bunker. Cink hits his third through the green. Bjorn splashes out of the sand to 45 feet but his putt edges past the cup. Cink plays poor chip 13-feet short and his putt stays out for a bogey-six. Bjorn then holes for par to win the match by 2&1.

Match 23 Hole-by-Hole Verplank bt Westwood 2&1
Hole 17 - Scott Verplank hits two shots onto the green and then two putts from 35 feet to secure a winning birdie. Westwood misses the green in two but hits his third into six feet hoping his opponent would make a mistake. He did not. The US wins 2&1.

Match 24 Hole-by-Hole Fasth v Azinger match halved
Hole 18 - Fasth finds the final fairway then fires his approach to the green some 30 feet above the hole. Azinger also finds the fairway but drags his approach into the left-hand bunker then holes it from there for an amazing birdie-three. Fasth, facing a treacherous downhill putt sends it past, leaving the match all square.

Hole 18 - Ireland's Paul McGinley becomes the man who wins the 34th Ryder Cup matches when he takes his side to 14½ points under enormous pressure. The Irishman pulls his second shot well left of the green but then pitches to 11 feet and holes out for an historic par to halve his match with Furyk

Hole 18 - With the Cup won by Europe, the players decide not to play to the 18th green and agree to a halved match.

Match 27 Hole-by-Hole Price bt Mickleson 3&2
Hole 16 - Price sends the fans into a complete frenzy when he holes from 22 feet for an incredible birdie. It is enough for the Welshman to secure a 3 & 2 win over the world's Number Two and take his side to within a half point of winning the match outright.

Match 28 Hole-by-Hole Parnevik v Woods match halved
Hole 18 - Woods finds the green in two, but Parnevik misses it to the left, from where he pitches left of the flag, the ball rolling down the slope four-feet past the hole. Woods then putts up the slope four feet beyond the cup and misses the return. However, he picks up Parnevik's marker, conceding the hole and the match is halved.

Europe takes dramatic singles series to reclaim Cup
Sam Torrance?s European Team won The 34th Ryder Cup Matches in dramatic and sensational fashion on an action-packed final day at the De Vere Belfry. They won the series of singles matches 7 ½ -4 ½ to complete a 15 ½ -12 ½ triumph and regain the trophy lost at Brookline three years ago.

1961 saw all matches reduced from 36 holes to 18 which has remained the position since. In 1963 fourball matches were introduced and the overall match extended to three days from the previous two.
