Match 28 Hole-by-Hole Parnevik v Woods match halved

Hole 18 - Woods finds the green in two, but Parnevik misses it to the left, from where he pitches left of the flag, the ball rolling down the slope four-feet past the hole. Woods then putts up the slope four feet beyond the cup and misses the return. However, he picks up Parnevik's marker, conceding the hole and the match is halved.

Hole 17 - Woods wins the hole with a birdie-four to go dormie one.

Hole 16 - Both players have birdie chances which they miss to half the hole. Match all square.

Hole 15 - Woods squares the match after a comedy of errors at the par five. After firing his tee shot into the crowd, Woods plays towards the 12th green, then hits his third near the green and gets down in five. Parnevik finds sand then shanks his recovery into the trees. From then he finds sand again then thins the ball through the green to lose the hole. Match all-square.

Hole 14 - Woods has a 45-foot birdie putt at the par three but finishes alongside the hole. Parnevik finds the back fringe but putts dead and is conceded for a half. Europe one-up.

Hole 13 - Woods drive finishes some 20 yards short of the green but he loses the hole by missing a six-foot birdie putt after Parnevik holes from eight feet for a three. Europe one-up.

Hole 12 - Hole halved in par threes. Match all-square.

Hole 11- Parnevik holes from close range for a birdie-three to get back on level terms. Match all-square

Hole 10 - Hole halved in par fours. USA one-up.

Hole 9 - Hole halved in par fours. Parnevik out in 38 to Woods' 37. USA one-up

Hole 8 - Hole halved in bogey-fives. USA one-up.

Hole 7 - Woods holes for a par three but Parnevik birdies to trim the lead. USA one-up

Hole 6 - Hole halved in par fours. USA two-up.

Hole 5 - Parnevik bogeys again while Woods gets a par to increase his lead. USA two-up.

Hole 4 - Parnevik bogeys the hole while Woods secures his par four to regain the lead. USA one-up.

Hole 3 - Parnevik rolls in a birdie-four which Woods fails to counter. Match all-square.

Hole 2 - Woods holes from close range for a birdie-three to take the lead. USA one-up.

Hole 1 - Both players secure par fours to halve the opening hole. Match all square.

did you know?
1961 saw all matches reduced from 36 holes to 18 which has remained the position since. In 1963 fourball matches were introduced and the overall match extended to three days from the previous two.
