MATCH 1
Phil Mickelson and David Toms are the only American partnership to remain the same, having got a win and a half from their two matches

Phillip Price and Pierre Fulke will make their debut. It marks the first time two European rookies have played together since Miguel Angel Jimenéz and Padraig Harrington at Brookline in 1999 in both sets of foursomes

MATCH 2
Sergio Garcia is trying to make it four straight foursomes victories in Ryder Cup Matches. He is yet to lose any of his six team matches in The Ryder Cup, winning 5˝ points out of six. Garcia has tasted victory against Furyk in the first day fourballs at Brookline

Lee Westwood is playing in his 13th consecutive session in The Ryder Cup. He has not missed a series since he made his debut in 1997. Westwood, alongside Darren Clarke beat Jim Furyk and Mark O'Meara in the second day foursomes at Brookline in 1999 3 and 2

MATCH 3
Scott Verplank and Scott Hoch are yet to taste defeat in foursome play. Verplank won his foursomes match on day one with Hal Sutton. Hoch won both his foursomes in 1997 in partnership with Lee Janzen and Jeff Maggert, along the way beating Lee Westwood and Nick Faldo

Colin Montgomerie and Bernhard Langer will resume their partnership for a seventh time in The Ryder Cup. In doing so, Langer moves into second place in the most matches played with 41, five behind Nick Faldo

MATCH 4
Tiger Woods will partner Davis Love III in the day two foursomes. This will Woods's eight partner in team play in the Ryder Cup. Mark O'Meara, Justin Leonard (1997), Tom Lehman, David Duval, Steve Pate (1999) and Paul Azinger, Mark Calcavecchia and now Love III (2002)

1961 saw all matches reduced from 36 holes to 18 which has remained the position since. In 1963 fourball matches were introduced and the overall match extended to three days from the previous two.
