The old stream which once fronted the ridged green is now a menacing lake. A small waterfall makes a dramatic setting, but when the pin is positioned top right getting close with a four or five iron will severely test the best of Ryder Cup stars.

1961 saw all matches reduced from 36 holes to 18 which has remained the position since. In 1963 fourball matches were introduced and the overall match extended to three days from the previous two.
